About TNCC

We are a small organization specializing in evaluating a person’s strengths and weaknesses (both cognitive and emotional) and using those results to help the patient reach their goals.  Many of our patients require cognitive rehabilitation following a concussion, traumatic brain injury, stroke or other acquired brain injury.  Other patients are looking to manage their depression, anxiety, or chronic pain.   All of our patients are looking to improve their lives and return to the roles and responsibilities they dreamed of having.  Our therapeutic approach is collaborative and interventions are evidence based.  Our Director, Dr. Marquez de la Plata, has been in the field as a clinician and a researcher for over 20 years, and holds academic appointments at UT Southwestern Medical Center and at UT Dallas Center for BrainHealth.  Dr. Marquez’s research has focused on understanding what holds patients back from their goals and what helps improve outcomes in rehabilitation for all (including underrepresented populations).  But most importantly, he treats every patient with respect, integrity, and kindness, as he believes therapy cannot be effective without a therapeutic alliance.

The following is a professional description of Dr. Marquez de la Plata’s Education and Experiences
